Week 2 Poll Recap

 

 

1.         Sacred Heart Academy (Louisville, KY) -

The Valkyries remained unbeaten rising to 8-0. They won a tough game against Meade County in the first round of the Queen of the Commonwealth. They will face No. 5 Bowling Green on Dec. 20th and then will face the winner of No. 4 Notre Dame Academy and No. 18 Christian Academy (Louisville).  

 

2.        Bullitt East (Mount Washington, KY) -

Coach Stallings’ Chargers continued their unbeaten run with victories over RV Mercer County and Rowan County this week. Bullitt East should be on a collision course with No. 7 McCracken County in the semis of the Queen of the Commonwealth tournament.  

 

3.        Anderson County (Lawrenceburg, KY) -

Anderson County stays at No. 3 after victories over Spencer County and Louisville Eastern. The Bearcats fell to No. 8 George Rogers Clark in the quarterfinals of the Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. Anderson County still has an opportunity for at least one more Top 20 victory in Lexington.

 

4.        Notre Dame Academy (Park Hills, KY) -

Coach Kes Murphy’s Pandas make their first appearance in the Hoops Mafia Top 5 this week. NDA’s Senior guards, Lacey Bradshaw (Morehead St. signee) and Macie Feldman (Johns Hopkins signee), will give them a chance in most games this year. Their next matchup comes on Dec. 20th against No. 18 Christian Academy of Louisville.  

 

5.        Bowling Green (Bowling Green, KY) -

The Lady Purples remain at No. 5 this week with convincing wins over Greenwood and Christian County. They also beat Spencer County by 21 in the first round of the Queen of the Commonwealth tournament. No. 5 Bowling Green has a chance to make major waves against No. 1 Sacred Heart on Monday, Dec. 20th.

 

 

 

 

 

Week 3 Preview

 

        Mafia Monday is loaded with SIX Top 20 matchups. These matchups will have major implications on next week’s ranking and the matchups we will see for the rest of the week.

 

  • Monday, 12/20 - #12 Cooper vs RV Southwestern
  • Monday, 12/20 - #1 Sacred Heart vs #5 Bowling Green
  • Monday, 12/20 - #8 George Rogers Clark vs #10 Mercy
  • Monday, 12/20 - #3 Anderson County vs #20 Shelby Valley
  • Monday, 12/20 - #4 Notre Dame Academy vs #18 Christian Academy (Louisville)
  • Monday, 12/20 - #7 McCracken County vs #19 DuPont Manual

 

No. 16 Russell and No. 17 Bardstown start off the Mafia Monday slate at 3:45 PM at Bullitt East. No. 12 Cooper and RV Southwestern start off the ranked games at Lexington Catholic at 4:00 PM. The next matchup of the day will be between heavy hitters No. 1 Sacred Heart and No. 5 Bowling Green at 5:30 PM at Bullitt East. The 6:00 PM window at Lexington Catholic’s Holiday Classic will consist of No. 8 George Rodgers Clark vs No. 10 Mercy and No. 3 Anderson County vs No. 20 Shelby Valley. The nightcaps at Bullitt East will have No. 7 McCracken County taking on No. 19 DuPont Manual and No. 4 Notre Dame facing off against No. 18 Christian Academy (Louisville).
